NEW SONGS FOR CHILDREN

I'm really excited about this project. I'm working on a series of new songs for children - songs that teach the truths of the Jesus Christ and His gospel. More songs like "The Miracle." Here are a few titles that should be out soon -- the first one by mid November:

CHOOSE HIM AGAIN

THAT'S FAITH

ON SUNDAY

There are so many great religious songs for children out there -- but sometimes I feel we underestimate our kids a little bit. I've done that myself. We tend to write children's songs that are easy and simple, because we think that's all they can handle. But I think they're ready for more -- they can both learn a more difficult song and understand a deeper doctrine. They're not only ready for it, but they NEED it.

Now more than ever, our children need to be armed with the bold, unmistakable, and glorious truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. A superficial understanding won't be enough to help them discern between good and evil. I believe the more clearly they understand pure doctrine, the more courage they'll have to choose and defend what's right.

And I can't think of a better way to teach them than through music.

*So check back with me in a month or so. In the meantime, check out our new children's Christmas song -- "I'd Sing You a Song."

Our primary will be singing “I’d Sing You a Song” for Christmas this year. I noticed on the MP3 you provide that there is a bell part. Is there any way I could get the bell notes? I have a set of bells, and I think the children would love to play them as part of this song. I am so excited, I love the song! Thank you for sharing your talent!

I love hearing my own kids sing this song. They sing it all the time – for family night, in the shower, when they’re cleaning their room…our 4-year-old daughter just started belting it out in Costco the other day. Shawna, you have blessed our family so much – thank you for teaching them about the Atonement through this beautiful song.

I came to your site after I experienced the singing of “The Miracle” for our primary program. Each time the children sing it, they are touched. Sometimes, a few of them visibly tear up. Of course, this causes the adults to tear up even more as we watch them. It is the true testimony of the song. As the children come into the chorus, they raise their voices and the purity of the truth of the phrase, “And I know this of the his miracles the most incredible must be the miracle that rescues you and me,” seems to reach the depth of our souls and bring tears of joy to our eyes.
    Thank you.
That is what brought me to your website. I wanted to share that beauty with you and thank you for letting your heart follow truth.
